Shoyu Chicken is an old family recipe.
When we get together, it is one of the first meals requested.
I like to make it on Christmas or Thanksgiving (in addition to the other traditional meats we cook).
But, i lived in a house without air conditioning, and cooking this on the stove just made my home way too hot.
So, i figured out how to do this in a crock pot.
The hardest part is taking the meat off the rabbit after it is cooked, or cutting up the chicken before.
Hope you enjoy it as much as my family does.

1. Put whole rabbit (or cut up chicken pieces) into crock pot. This is a 6 qt crock pot. This is one of the rabbits that my family raised. It was an American, and this is about 3 lbs. |
Cook rabbit on low for 5-6 hours.
You will know that it is done when it pulls right off the bone.
Debone rabbit before eating.
If using chicken pieces, there is no need to take meat off of the bone.
I serve over rice or noodles.
